Club SciKidz Summer Camps Coronavirus Update July 3, 2020

Dear Parents,

We want to provide you with the latest update regarding our in-person summer camps that were scheduled at the GSES (Dallas) and OCC (Plano) location.  We just learned from both GSES & OCC leadership this week that they have decided to close their campuses to outside organizations for the remainder of the summer.  Their decisions were based on the rising number of COVID19 cases in the metroplex.  These were our final camp locations remaining open, so this news means that we won't be able to offer any in-person camps this summer.  We have tried our hardest to keep our camp doors open amidst the uncertainty this summer, so this is a very disappointing outcome for us all. `

We are so upset that our campers will not get a much-needed fun Club SciKidz camp experience.  This situation is absolutely heartbreaking for us, as we live for summer camp.  We are so incredibly sad that the summer has turned out this way.

We will truly miss seeing your child at camp this summer, but we are already planning for next year!  All 4 of this year's camp locations have already penciled us in on their calendars for 2021, and we look forward to seeing our campers then.  2021 can't come soon enough!

Don't worry, we have plenty of options to keep your child busy learning this summer, between our Virtual Camps and Camp-in-a-Box options!

ENROLLED FAMILIES:  emails have been sent out this week.  Please review available options and reply to that email to let us know how you'd like to proceed.

Stay well,

Club SciKidz Summer Camps Coronavirus Update July 2, 2020

OCC Update: parents, look for an email update soon.  We are in communication with OCC this week to determine how to proceed.

GSES Update:  Unfortunately for our camps, GSES administration made the difficult decision this week to cancel all on-campus summer programs for the summer, given the recent rise in COVID positivity rates and case numbers.  We sent an email to all enrolled families earlier this week.  Please review the details in that email and let us know how you'd like to proceed.

Don't worry, we have plenty of options to keep your child busy learning this summer, between our Virtual Camps and Camp-in-a-Box options!

Stay well,

Club SciKidz Summer Camps Coronavirus Update May 1st, 2020

Hi Parents!

We'd like to provide a quick status update on summer camps:

  • Camps hosted at TCA (Addison): Unfortunately, school administration cancelled all summer programs.  We sent an email on 4/23 to all families registered for our TCA camps.  Please review the details provided in that email and let us know how you'd like to proceed.
  •
  • Camps at LLUMC (Dallas): Unfortunately, church administration cancelled all summer programs.  We sent an email on 4/29 to all families registered for our LLUMC camps.  Please review the details provided in that email and let us know how you'd like to proceed.
  •
  • Camps at GSES (Dallas): our weeks at GSES are in mid to late July and are tentatively still "on."  If they decide to cancel, they will notify us by 6/15 and we will notify you immediately and provide details how to proceed.
  •
  • Camps at OCC (Plano): our weeks at OCC are in late July/ early Aug and are tentatively still "on."  If they decide to cancel, they will notify us as soon as possible, and we will notify you immediately and provide details how to proceed.
  •

This summer sure isn't turning out how we'd planned & prepared, but we're remaining hopeful that we'll get to see a least some of our campers towards the end of the summer.  The American Camp Association is working on compiling CDC guidelines that pertain to camps into a handbook, which we will use once published.

We're also putting the finishing touches on our Camp-in-a-Box options and Virtual Camp options... more to come by 5/15/20!

Stay well,

Club SciKidz Summer Camps Coronavirus Update April 19, 2020

Hi Parents!

Hasn't it been a strange month?  We keep shaking our heads and hoping this experience has been a bad dream.  Here at Club SciKidz, we are working remotely and staying home. We hope you are staying healthy as you shelter in place too!

We wanted to update you on the status of our camps:  as of right now, we are planning, praying, and preparing for summer!  We are sincerely hoping that we can offer our camps on location as scheduled.  Of course, this can change, but we remain hopeful that we can host camps.  We think camps are needed now, more than ever, for kids and parents alike!

We are constantly communicating with our host locations, suppliers, and corporate office about how our daily operations will be adjusted to ensure everyone's safety.  Of course, we're relying on local/state officials for updates and the CDC for health recommendations.  We are also working on alternate options, just in case we can't offer physical camps (although we can't imagine NOT seeing your child's smiling face at camp!).

Our goal is to get another update to you by the end of the month.  Hopefully we'll all have a little more information about summer at that point!  Thank you SO much for your patience.

Stay well,

Club SciKidz Summer Camps Coronavirus Update March 20, 2020

Coronavirus Response

Dear Camp Families,

During the last 23 years, our summer science camps have served thousands of campers each year. Safety Management has always been our top priority and this year we will be adding several more rigorous safety procedures. Our campers and their families have been and will always be our main concern.

We will follow the latest guidelines on health and safety from the Centers for Disease Control, (CDC) and the local departments of health everywhere we operate camps. As we all know our main objective during this crisis is to flatten the curve, and we are committed to making sure we implement the most rigorous staff training protocols to make sure our camp locations are complying with the guidelines and keeping our precious campers and their families safe while having a great time at camp.

At this time we do not foresee any interruptions to our summer camp programs and schedules, but we are working on alternatives just in case, so our campers will not miss out on their summer camp experience.

We understand and empathize with you how difficult it is to be going through these uncertain times, but our Club SciKidz family is here to support you every step of the way. Your family and the love of science is why we are in business and we cannot express how much we appreciate you allowing us to continue to serve you while doing what we love.

We are remaining positive and we are excited to see you this summer while your child enjoys a healthy, safe and FUN camp season!

Please visit our FAQ page and our Blog for additional details about our summer camps and fun activities you can do with your child. Club SciKidz also offers a box subscription service. Our topics range from Veterinarian Medicine to Climate Change. All of our boxes are complete with materials and detailed lessons.

Wishing everyone safety and good health while sending positive energy your way!
